Warning 122 | [PSS®E] | Islanded assets detected during SOLVE
Relevant software:
PSS®E
Emitted message:
Islanded assets detected while processing SOLVE command and will be set out of service
Description:
This warning is raised when the engine detects electrically islanded assets (disconnected parts of the network) while processing a SOLVE
command in PSS®E.
When portions of a power system network become electrically isolated from the main grid (forming "islands"), they can cause convergence issues during power flow calculations. To address this, these islanded components are automatically set out of service during the solution process.
tip
If you are expecting other assets to be turned off as part of a SET, STATUS=
or ADVFAULT
command - you can ignore this warning.
For example, if you are turning off the main transformer of a generating system, which will in turn disconnect the generator from the grid, you will get this warning.
Potential issues:
- Islanded assets that are set out of service will not participate in the power flow solution.
- Any
OUTPUT
commands which are ouputting values from out of service or islanded assets will instead outputNaN
.
Potential fixes:
- Review your
SET, STATUS=
commands and/or anyADVFAULT
commands which may be islanding assets. If they are islanding assets, you can modify the commands to not island the assets - for example, by switching out other nearby plant.
