Warning 106 | [Various software] | Turning off reference bus
Relevant software:
PSS®E
PowerFactory
Emitted message:
A command or part of a command is turning off a swing/reference bus. This may result in all buses being disabled in this network - or may result in the power systems simulation failing to converge.
Description:
This warning indicates that a SET
command is turning off a swing bus in your power systems model.
info
There are several terms which refer to the same bus/generator combination as a 'swing bus':
- PSS®E: Swing bus (bus with type code 3).
- PowerFactory: Reference bus.
- Other common terms: Thévenin equivalent source, infinite bus, infinite source.
danger
Turning off a swing bus may result in all buses being disabled in the network or cause the static simulation to fail to converge.
Possible impact:
- Power flow solutions require at least one swing bus to complete power flow simulations.
Potential fixes:
- Review any
SET, GEN=, STATUS=OUT
commands in your PSSE Static or PowerFactory Static Nodes to check you are not accidentally turning off the swing/reference bus.
