Error 271 | [DSATools™ TSAT] | Overlapping bolted faults

Emitted message:

Cannot have overlapping three phase bolted faults in the contingency file.

Description:​

There are overlapping bolted faults which require the use of a TSAT fault clearing command (e.g. 'Clear Three Phase Fault'). These fault clearing commands can't distinguish between faults at different buses or lines. Therefore, please ensure that bolted faults are not overlapping.

Consider the following contingency switching commands:

At Time 5 Seconds
Three Phase Fault At Bus ;100
At Time 5.01 Seconds
Three Phase Fault At Bus ;200
At Time 5.02 Seconds
Clear Three Phase Fault

In this example, the Clear Three Phase Fault command will clear both faults at Bus 100 and Bus 200. Therefore, it does not appear possible to specify the fault time for overlapping bolted faults.

Potential fixes:​

  1. Please ensure that bolted faults are not overlapping. This ensures that the Clear Three Phase Fault command will only clear one fault.
