Error 170 | [PSS®E] | PSS®E timeout
Relevant software:
PSS®E
Emitted message:
PSS®E took longer than expected to process a command from the gridmo Engine
Description:
This error occurs when a command takes longer than expected to process an instruction (a timeout) sent by the gridmo Engine.
danger
The simulation will fail as the gridmo Engine cannot confirm if PSS®E is still running.
Possible impact:
- The simulation will terminate, but will automatically retry.
Potential fixes:
- If you are running wide-area models (e.g. Australian NEM/OPDMS models) this error may occur based on the computational complexity of the event - for example, during and immediately after faults may cause the PSS®E model to temporarily diverge, leading to longer time to simulate.
- Possible fix - add
run.chunk.time=1in the Advanced Parameter field of the PSS®E Dynamic that had this error.
- Possible fix - add
- If this error occurs regularly, but the PSS®E command referenced is not consistently the same, this may mean you need to adjust your gridmo Engine settings. The default settings are appropriate for most use cases, but the following alternative settings may help:
- Possible fix - in the gridmo Engine
Settingswindow, switch to thePSS®Etab and set thePython timeoutfield higher than the default240seconds (increase by at most 50% each time e.g.360then480sec etc.)
- Possible fix - in the gridmo Engine
