Description:​

This error indicates that the gridmo Engine received an invalid or unexpected response from PSS®E. This could mean either:

  • A piece of plant does not exist or is out of service, or
  • The PSS®E software has become unstable, crashed, or if there is a fundamental issue in the communication layer between the gridmo Engine and PSS®E.

The simulation will fail because the gridmo Engine cannot reliably control or retrieve data from the PSS®E simulation - however, the gridmo Engine will attempt to retry the task.

Possible impact:​

  • The simulation will terminate prematurely.
  • No results will be generated from the point of failure onwards.

Potential fixes:​

  • Review PSS®E Logs: The most common cause for this error is an underlying issue within PSS®E. Check the psse_log.log file located in the task's temporary folder (accessible via the all_temp .zip download). This log often contains specific error messages from PSS®E that can pinpoint the root cause which are not available to the gridmo Engine.
