Meterbus is ambiguous for a three winding transformer (it is unclear from the definition what direction to assign to positive power flow). Consider using a line/branch instead to monitor.

Description:​

This error is raised if a METERBUS= argument is used with a three winding transformer.

Unlike two winding transformers or lines, where the power flow direction is clearly defined between two points, it is unclear what sign to use when measuring the power flow through a three winding transformer.

We recommend not metering power flow through a three winding transformer - instead use a line or two winding transformer.

Potential fixes:​

  • If you need to monitor power flow on a specific winding of the three winding transformer, consider using individual branch elements that make up the transformer rather than the three winding transformer as a whole.
